Abstract

The article analyzes the most significant factors that affect the formation of professional competencies of university graduates of engineering specialties and employers' assessment of the quality of training of specialists in higher education institutions. We have analyzed the general trends and main reasons for increasing the duration of school education in Ukraine and Europe. The article analyzes the relationship between the difficulties that arise for students of certain specialties in the study of disciplines of the natural and mathematical cycle, a number of special university disciplines and the volume of study of the corresponding disciplines at school. We have noted the relevance of the STEM-oriented approach to education as a modern direction of modernization and innovative development of natural and mathematical and humanitarian education profiles. We have underlined the importance of professional integration of young professionals in industry and the prospects for the introduction of a dual form of education. Based on the analysis of employers' feedback on the quality of training of specialists with higher education, we have illustrated the need for constant feedback in order to adjust the content of university education. Using the results of a questionnaire (survey) of employers (enterprises of the metallurgical industry of Nikopol and region), we have proposed specific measures to implement the principle of unity and continuity of school, higher education and professional activities of graduates with the use of practical experience of educational activities of the Institute of Integrated Education and the College of the NMetAU. Based on positive practical results, we have shown the prospects of the proposed measures aimed at improving the quality of training of engineering specialists in a modern technical institution of higher education.
