Pedagogical personalities of an abroad in studies of Ukrainian pedagogical comparative science: historiographical aspect

Abstract

The article deals with the historiographical survey of studios about famous representatives of foreign education and pedagogical thought. Proceeding from the generalizing-representative analysis, about 30 dissertations, covering life and creative heritage of pedagogical personalities of Antiquity, Middle Ages, New and Newest times (Confucius, Al-Farabi, E. Rotterdam, Yan Komenskyi, J. Locke, A. Distervega, J. F. Herbart, A. G. Franke, N. L. Tsyntsendorff, G. Gmayner, F. C. Grunwing, E. Rairerson, C. Rogers, etc.) shows the common features and characteristics of their content. The specific approaches of scientists to the illumination of the mentioned problem are well understood and the main tendencies, achievements and gaps of this scientific experience are determined.
It is noted that the basis of the research is the civilization-eupropocentric approach. It provides for the gradation of modern scientific studies in the epochs, which included the livelihoods of foreigners represented in them.
It is considered, systematized and analyzed about three dozen defended dissertations in 1991 – 2018, the subject of studying of which were various aspects, directions of life and creative heritage of outstanding figures of foreign countries as pedagogical personalities.
It is proved that about one third of them are devoted to the figures of the Ancient East and Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Enlightenment of the eighteenth century, and the rest to the figures of the 19th – the first half of the 20th century. ct and the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century. It was determined that in the regional dimension the main focus of Ukrainian scholars focused on pedagogical personalities of European cranes, primarily Germany, France, Great Britain, as well as the USA.
