Personnel issues in Novorossiysk University in the latter half of the XIX century – in the beginning of the XX century (on the example of the historical and philological faculty)

Abstract

The problems that are connected with the supplying Novorossiysk University with the highly qualified scientific and pedagogic staff are scrutinized in the article. The theoretical and methodical bases of the training of scientific and pedagogic staff at the historical-philological faculty of Novorossiysk University during 1865 – 1917 are revealed. It is noted that the training of scientific and pedagogic staff occurred due to the Privat-associate professorship Institute. It is elucidated that the main part of professorship distinguished associate professors on the staff from privat-associate professors and considered associate professors as more acceptable candidates for occupying professor posts. It is emphasized that the main source of filling vacancies at the historical-philological faculty was the Privat-associate professorship Institute. The attention is focused on the increasing role of privat-associate professors in scientific and pedagogic developing of Novorossiysk University. It is established that privat-associate professors created the competitive environment, invigorated scientific researches, modernized the methodology of teaching subjects and courses at the historical-philological faculty of Novorossiysk University.
