Abstract

The article highlights the peculiarities of the use of collections in the process of judicial examinations.

Modern forensic examination cannot usually be performed if the initial data are not supplemented with scientific information which is contained in various sources: natural collections of samples, scientific and technical literature, schemes, catalogs, regulatory and technical documents. The solution of expert tasks involves the processing of a large amount of information. The availability of the necessary information at the expert criminologists and forensic experts disposal largely determines the successful process and completion of the study.

Reference and auxiliary accounts of the forensic registration system are means of solving various expert tasks, as they provide for the accumulation, processing, storage, search and rational use of auxiliary facilities and background information about them.

In today's conditions the study of counterfeit money executed on various multiplication machinesis widespread in expert practice. The technique of manufacturing counterfeit money, securities is constantly being improved, all types of graphic arts printing are used, the paper pulp suspension is being improved, the technology of drawing watermarks is being mastered.

The use of natural collections along with other forms of reference and auxiliary accounts (automated information retrieval system (AIRS), reference literature) provides the solution of the following tasks, forensic-ballistic research: the definition of the system, the model of weapons; establishment of the manufacturer of weapons; definition of a weapon model for its individual details; identification of the type (type) of the cartridge on its external features; reconstruction of the elements of the cartridge (sleeve, projectile) of its type; determination of the kind of cartridge by elements (shell, cores, etc.); establishment of the company and the country of manufacture of the cartridge with marking on the sleeve and projectile; other tasks.
